I am not usually a man of observations, especially not on subjects pertaining to everyday life. There was that one about the keys that I wrote years ago. However, due to recent situations, I have made a new observation. The topic of today...CARPOOL I love it when people want to carpool in a group. It saves gas, better for the environment, saves money, etc. Carpooling is also good so that people can get a break from driving. However, carpooling is ONLY possible if people take turns to drive. It's not called carpooling if the same person drives everywhere every time. I don't mind driving all the time, but please do not sugarcoat it by telling me to carpool and have me drive at every instant. Examples of carpool: 1) Tim and I go to UCI group together sometimes. We usually meet up at church and then drive down to Irvine in one car. We don't talk about who's gonna drive before. But we both have an understanding that it's only carpooling if we split the driving responsibilty. 2) Jonathan drove me around a lot when we were in high school, before I got my license. So I can drive him all the time, and that would be fine. So please, next time...please ask me for a ride if you need one, and don't say to me, "Do you want to carpool?" when all you wanted was for me to drive you. Don't pretend like you're doing me a favor by asking me to "carpool" when you simply just wanna load for a ride. Again, I just want to be clear. I don't have a problem driving people. I just have a problem with the misuse of the word "carpool." |
